Submitted by live on January 31st, 2011 9:46 AM

Due to the weather, Paul Redman's lecture has been cancelled and will be re-scheduled in the near future.

Mr. Redman will deliver a public lecture on "What Role Can Financial Regulators Play in Stabilizing Financial Markets?" on a date to be announced.  Mr. Redman is the Principal Economist at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).   He holds a BA and MA in Economics from the University of Guelph.

In his role as Principal Economist, Paul is responsible for providing the Commission and its staff with analysis of the economic implications of regulatory policy and financial market developments. A particular focus of Paul’s work is developments in market microstructure and their associated regulatory implications.

Paul represents the OSC on a number of national and international regulatory committees. Most recently, he work with securities regulators from Canada, France, Australia and Spain to develop a discussion paper on the role of securities regulators in enhancing the resilience of global financial markets.

Paul has been with the OSC for nine years. Prior to joining the OSC, he held a number of roles in the Canadian financial services including working at a major investment dealer, a global financial information provider and one of Canada’s largest insurance companies.
