Apr. 2: Chris Matthews Cup Winners Announced
The Department of Economics and Finance is pleased to announce the winners of the Chris Matthews Cup. As part of Francis Tapon's Theory of Strategic Management course (ECON 4800), the Chris Matthews Cup is awarded along with a gold medal to the in-class group with the highest graded paper and web presentation.
Mar. 21: Stephen Kosempel Appointed Chair of Department of Economics and Finance
The Department of Economics and Finance is delighted to announce that Stephen Kosempel has been officially appointed as Chair of the department.
Stephen Kosempel has been with the department since 1999, and has served as Interim Chair since January 2012. Dr. Kosempel has been appointed to a five year term, effective April 1, 2014.

Warren Jestin, Economist in Residence at the Department of Economics and Finance will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Guelph at the 2014 winter convocation.
Dec. 4: Musical Act Featuring Prof. Ross McKitrick to Perform for a Good Cause
Economics professor Ross McKitrick is making great music for a great cause, as a musician and member of the Guelph-based Celtic band The WIld Oats. The band's latest album, The Dog-Eared Hymnal, Vol. 1, was released last month, with proceeds to go towards funding clinical medical supplies in Tanzania through World Vision Canada.
